{"id":54746,"date":"2025-01-23T08:53:08","date_gmt":"2025-01-23T08:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.innovationnewsnetwork.com\/?p=54746"},"modified":"2025-01-23T08:53:08","modified_gmt":"2025-01-23T08:53:08","slug":"shaping-the-future-centennial-colleges-advanced-manufacturing-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.innovationnewsnetwork.com\/shaping-the-future-centennial-colleges-advanced-manufacturing-programme\/54746\/","title":{"rendered":"Shaping the future: Centennial College\u2019s advanced manufacturing programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.centennialcollege.ca\/about-centennial\/centres-and-institutes\/applied-research-innovation-and-entrepreneurship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Centennial College&#8217;s<\/a> advanced manufacturing research and innovation programme provides a unique opportunity for student researchers to work with industry partners to find innovative solutions to problems and improve on previous designs.<\/h2>\n<p>A significant amount of Centennial&#8217;s advanced manufacturing activity occurs in partnership with the School of Engineering Technology and Applied Sciences (SETAS) and School of Transportation (SOT).<\/p>\n<p>Our research activity leverages the state-of-the-art equipment located on campus, and the expertise of academic experts and staff within our ARIES department, to develop practical, implementable solutions to problems defined by our industry partners. Learnings from our applied research activity are then introduced back into classrooms at these Schools.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2021, Centennial College became the newest member of the Southern Ontario Network for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation (SONAMI), a Niagara College-led consortium of postsecondary academic institutions that provides competitive, disruptive and innovative solutions to Ontario&#8217;s manufacturers.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership expands the range of facilities and expertise available to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and now expands SONAMI capacity in aerospace and aviation.<\/p>\n<p>We look forward to working with local industry partners and the other academic institutions in the SONAMI network to help SMEs in Southern Ontario develop their technologies in advanced manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>Centennial College&#8217;s advanced manufacturing partners include but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Burloak Technologies<\/strong>: Canada&#8217;s leading supplier of highly engineered additive manufactured components for demanding applications.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lynch Fluid Controls<\/strong>: A GTA-based supplier dedicated to designing and manufacturing hydraulic motion control manifolds and integrated hydraulic systems.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Amaircare<\/strong>: A family-owned Canadian air purification company providing high-performing air filtration solutions for industrial, commercial and institutional applications.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bombardier Aerospace<\/strong>: A world leader in the design and manufacture of innovative aviation products and services for business aircraft.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8p3XH36z-DA&amp;ab_channel=BombardierInc.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Watch: Bombardier donates a state-of-the-art Global 7500 flight test vehicle to Centennial<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Safran Landing Systems<\/strong>: The world&#8217;s largest manufacturer of aircraft landing gear.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What our student researchers say:<\/h3>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;We are optimising what existed before so that it requires less labour to produce, and to make operations faster.
