Image-guided therapy (IGT) is the practice of using medical imaging to plan, perform, and evaluate medical interventions.<\/p>\n
The INOVAIT network supports Canadian innovators<\/a> who are unleashing the power of AI through IGT’s precision therapy and treatment to streamline healthcare and improve healthcare outcomes.<\/p>\n \u201cCanada\u00a0has tremendous strength in the research and development of medical imaging and AI technologies,\u201d stated Kullervo Hynynen, Co-Executive Director of INOVAIT and Vice-President of Research and Innovation at SRI.<\/p>\n \u201cWe need to capitalise on this opportunity and leverage both these strengths to advance technologies that can improve clinical outcomes and healthcare efficiencies.\u201d<\/p>\n Seven high-potential projects will integrate machine learning capabilities into IGT technologies through this iteration of the Focus Fund programme.<\/p>\n Focus Fund project members will invest an additional\u00a0$21.3m\u00a0in these projects, for a total influx of\u00a0$32m\u00a0into the Canadian IGT sector.<\/p>\n The Focus Fund contributions will help attract investments into these Canadian technology companies, create jobs for highly skilled professionals, and cement\u00a0Canada’s\u00a0status as a global leader in image-guided therapy and AI innovation<\/a>.<\/p>\n Fran\u00e7ois-Philippe Champagne, Canada\u2019s Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, explained: \u201cINOVAIT’s Focus Fund represents the natural evolution for promising pilot fund projects in the area of image-guided therapy and helps attract key investments for these innovative Canadian technology companies.<\/p>\n \u201cWe look forward to seeing all progress made in advancing the field through artificial intelligence and machine learning integration.\u201d<\/p>\n Selected Focus Fund projects include:<\/p>\n \u201cBy providing a platform to connect, educate and invest in the most promising ventures, INOVAIT is pushing boundaries and working to improve health outcomes,\u201d concluded Pam Damoff, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A $10.7m investment for AI-enhanced image-guided therapy has been approved under the second iteration of INOVAIT’s Focus Fund programme.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":22,"featured_media":48596,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[10551],"tags":[570,849],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\nIntegrating machine learning into image-guided therapy<\/h3>\n
