Credit: Verkor<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Once operational, the gigafactory will have a 16 GWh\u00a0annual production capacity for lithium EV batteries \u2013 enough to make 300,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.innovationnewsnetwork.com\/category\/electric-vehicle-news\/\">electric vehicles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The gigafactory will create 1,200 direct and 3,000 indirect jobs, a significant economic boost to the region and a key instrument in Europe\u2019s energy transition.<\/p>\n<p>Verkor is also developing the VIC Megafactory, a small-scale gigafactory replica capable of 100 to 150 MWh production capacity to test the first generation of lithium EV batteries.<\/p>\n<p>The company is also investing in the next generation of battery experts through the VIC Training Centre, which
